As a big fan of college baseball, I find the coaches fascinating. The Wake Forest baseball program has a great coaching staff.

They’re led by experienced leaders, all determined to help student-athletes grow. They steer the Demon Deacons program towards success.1 The team includes Head Coach Tom Walter, Assistant Coach Bobby Moranda, Pitching Coach Bill Cilento, Hitting Coach Brad Gilover, and Volunteer Assistant Coach Jacob Wilkerson.

Each member of the staff has tons of knowledge and a deep love for the game. Learning about their experiences, I’m excited for the Demon Deacons’ future. They have a talented coaching staff that brings a lot to the table.

Wake Forest Baseball Coaching Staff: Experienced Leaders

Tom Walter took over as Head Coach for Wake Forest’s baseball back in 2009. Since then, the team has done very well. They’ve been in the NCAA Tournament six times and nabbed two ACC titles. Walter brings with him over 30 years of coaching knowledge. This includes being the head honcho at both Georgetown University and the University of New Orleans. He’s respected for his knack in molding players and building strong teams.2

Tom Walter: Head Coach

Bobby Moranda serves as the Assistant Coach for the Demon Deacons. He boasts more than 20 years in the coaching field. This journey included leading at Western Carolina University and assisting at the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina. His sharpness in player growth and helping athletes meet their top game is well recognized.2

The Wake Forest baseball team is led by Head Coach Tom Walter. With Assistant Coach Bobby Moranda by his side, they guide the team with their experience. The coaching staff also includes skilled professionals like Bill Cilento, who is in charge of pitching. Brad Gilover focuses on hitting, and Jacob Wilkerson works as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.2

Bill Cilento: Pitching Coach

As the Pitching Coach, Bill Cilento brings a lot to the team. He has coached for more than ten years at college level. Teams under his guidance, like the Demon Deacons, have had top pitching performances in their conferences. This success has also led many players to the MLB Draft.2

Brad Gilover: Hitting Coach

Brad Gilover is the Hitting Coach at Wake Forest. He’s worked hard at developing players for years. This includes both professionals and amateurs. His expertise lies in enhancing a hitter’s mechanics, strategy, and their overall ability to hit.

Jacob Wilkerson: Volunteer Assistant Coach

Jacob Wilkerson volunteers as Assistant Coach at Wake Forest. His past as a player at the University of North Carolina Wilmington gives him insight. He helps the coaching staff with practices, player growth, and game preparations.2

Conclusion

The Wake Forest baseball coaching staff brings both skill and experience to the team. Headed by the knowledgeable Tom Walter, they have achieved a lot. Their record includes winning 54 games, going to the Men’s College World Series three times, and having 10 players chosen in the 2023 MLB Draft, leading the ACC.2

Each coach adds a special talent to the team’s success. For example, Pitching Coach Bill Cilento is known for training great pitchers. Meanwhile, Hitting Coach Brad Gilover improves the team’s hitting. These skills really make a difference.34In addition to their coaching abilities, the staff values player growth, performing well in school, and building a winning mindset. They are ready to help the Demon Deacons reach even greater success in the future.
